The Indonesian Jungle pavilion opened in 2002 just months before the flood; its 1,500-square-meter hall replicates equatorial canopy and houses orangutans, gibbons, and Komodo dragons. The African House, completed in 2012, shelters hippos, okapi, and forest buffalo in a climate-controlled rotunda with underground viewing windows. A 5-hectare Elephant Valley opened in 2013, replacing concrete paddocks with a geothermal-heated pool, mud wallows, and a moated landscape that allows three generations of Asian elephants to move as a herd.
Visitors arrive by tram, bus, or seasonal river ferry from central Prague.
